Ukrainian Armed Forces spokesperson: Russian defense line near Bakhmut has been broken through (video)

There are no large settlements, there is a highway and a large number of forest strips, so the liberation of Andriivka and Klishchiyivka allows us to predict faster movement of Ukrainian troops.

In the Bakhmut sector, Ukrainian troops managed to break through the Russian defense line and continue to advance. This was reported by the head of the press service of the Eastern Military Group, Ilya Yevlash, on the air of We-Ukraine TV channel.

He noted that the liberation of Andriivka and Klishchiyivka opens up prospects for further progress. There are no large settlements further on, there is a highway and a large number of forest belts. In urbanized areas, it is much more difficult to conduct combat operations, as it is a completely different kind of fight. Yevlash predicted that the scenario of hostilities will change somewhat.

“We have broken through the enemy’s defense line here and are now continuing to move forward,” the spokesman said.

According to him, the enemy did not expect such a turn of events, so it is worth monitoring the situation. Yevlash recalled that last year Kharkiv region made significant progress. He did not rule out such a scenario, but the city in Donetsk region is politically important for the occupiers, so a long struggle is possible.
