Ukrainian Armed Forces to receive aircraft adapted to NATO standards

The Slovak government approves a decision to transfer 13 MiG-29 aircraft to the Ukrainian Armed Forces. Four more Soviet fighter jets will be handed over to the Ukrainian army by Poland.

It is known that the Poles have prepared modernized MiGs for the Ukrainian Armed Forces. As part of the modernization, they were adapted to NATO standards. It is worth noting that the Slovak government promised to hand over the fighters in 2022, but has not done so to date. It is possible that the aircraft have also been adapted to NATO standards.

Earlier, American experts helped Ukrainian engineers integrate HARM missiles with the MiG-29. Their appearance in the Armed Forces of Ukraine came as a complete surprise to the occupiers.

In March, it became known that the Pentagon was studying the possibility of integrating AIM-120 missiles with the MiG-29. If this task is solved during the modernization, Ukrainian pilots will be able to shoot down enemy aircraft beyond line of sight. By the way, AIM-120 missiles are used in tandem with F-16 fighters.
