Ukrainian drivers can choose license plates for their cars online

The online service Driver’s Area now allows ordering and booking license plates for a car. Of course, it’s not free.

This was announced by the Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Ihor Klymenko on his Telegram page. The option to select a license plate before registering a vehicle has been added to the Driver’s Electronic Account.

“The new service allows citizens to choose and book the license plate they want for their car. The service can be ordered by vehicle type. This is another step towards the implementation of an online vehicle re-registration service in the future,” said Igor Klymenko.

The future car owner can book the desired combination of digits for the license plate and receive it during registration at the Service Center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. Individual license plates are ordered under a separate procedure.

To choose a license plate with a certain combination of digits, you need to register in the Driver’s Electronic Office (for example, using the Diia service), select the MIA Service Center where you plan to register your vehicle, and then select the combination of digits you like (if it is available in this Service Center, of course). This can be a number with a regular combination of digits (in which case the additional fee for the selection service is UAH 360) or a “round” combination, in which case you will have to pay an additional UAH 4,800 to 36,0000.

According to the Interior Minister, only one license plate can be selected, ordered, and received per vehicle.

The application for a reserved license plate remains valid for ten calendar days. If the customer does not show up within this period, his or her “reservation” is automatically deleted from the register after this period and is considered invalid.
