Ukrainian military receives Swedish RBS-56 anti-tank missile systems

The Armed Forces of Ukraine have received Swedish-made RBS-56 BILL ATGMs. The photo of the missile system was published by the information resource “Operational Armed Forces of Ukraine”.

The Swedish ATGM was photographed during deployment or before use. The picture shows an unfolded workbench with a transport and launch container. The information resource does not say who supplied the man-portable missile systems to Ukraine. They are in service with the armies of several countries.

There is a high probability that the RBS-56 ATGMs were transferred to the Ukrainian Armed Forces by the Swedish government. The fact is that the systems were developed in Sweden. They were also manufactured there. The country’s authorities expressed their readiness to help the Ukrainian army with anti-tank weapons immediately after the invasion began. In October 2022, Sweden handed over RBS-17 systems to the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

The RBS-56 ATGM is designed to destroy protected moving objects. The system consists of a container with an anti-tank missile, a day and night sight, a tripod workbench and a fire control device. The weight of the ATGM is 43.5 kg. The missile container weighs 20 kg.
