US Mojave strike drone takes off and lands on a dirt road for the first time (video)
General Atomics has tested the Mojave unmanned aerial vehicle on a dirt road for the first time. The drone was able to successfully take off and land.
The purpose of the test was to demonstrate the versatility of the unmanned aerial vehicle. As part of these tests, the multi-purpose drone made short flights, climbing to an altitude of up to 180 meters.
The Mojave’s ability to fly missions without being tied to a runway opens up new operational opportunities for commanders in all services that will operate the drone. This was stated by David R. President David is the President of General Atomics.
Mojave uses sensors, avionics and a portable control station from the Gray Eagle drone. The new drone has an enlarged wing and reinforced landing gear. The power plant has a capacity of 450 horsepower.
The Mojave can carry up to 16 AGM-114 Hellfire air-to-ground missiles, which is twice as many as the MQ-1C Gray Eagle. The maximum flight duration is 25 hours. A C-130 Hercules aircraft can be used to transport the drone. Moreover, the drone can be transported in disassembled form. We learned about it a few months ago when the company published a CGI video.
