UZ has added new cars to the Kyiv-Chernivtsi train: here’s what they look like (photo)
Ukrzaliznytsia has upgraded the rolling stock of train No. 7/8 Kyiv – Chernivtsi with modernized second-class cars. This was reported by the carrier’s press service.
These cars have been overhauled at Ukrzaliznytsia’s facilities. They have a modern air conditioning system, vacuum toilets, and individually controlled lighting.
“In the midst of the summer transportation season, the Chernivtsi direction becomes more balanced in terms of price offer, as it combines branded cars for more demanding passengers and cheaper cars for social transportation, including organized groups of children for scheduled recreation,” the statement said.
In early August, Yevhen Shramkov, a member of Ukrzaliznytsia’s board, said that the company was preparing to build new passenger cars at the facilities of Kyiv Electric Car Repair Plant, Darnytsia Car Repair Plant, Refrigerated Carriage Company, and Stryi Car Repair Plant.
By the end of the year, they will have mastered the repair of old railcars, and after that they will start producing new ones.
Later, it became known that Ukrzaliznytsia was going to build 100 passenger cars and five diesel trains at its own facilities.
