What a warhead from a downed X-101 looks like, and what’s unexpected about it (photo)

What kind of equipment was carried by the missiles that the enemy fired at our civilian infrastructure last night

According to Ukrainian Armed Forces Commander-in-Chief Zaluzhnyi, today, during a new enemy missile attack, our air defense shot down 36 of 43 X-101/X-555 air-launched cruise missiles from Tu-95MS bombers.

In turn, Defense Express received from its own sources a photo of a warhead from an X-101 missile, one of those that was shot down by our air defense system today. This material may at least be of interest to our readers, as it clearly demonstrates what kind of equipment the racist KRGs carry when striking our civilian infrastructure, and how dangerous and destructive it is.

It may seem very strange that in the photo we can see rather a cylindrical “blank”. And this is despite the fact that according to photos from open sources, the racist X-101 missile has a triangular fuselage structure.

But there’s really nothing surprising here. The warhead in a cruise missile is one of the elements of the internal structure, which should not follow the contours of the fuselage. If we take a closer look at the design of the Russian missiles (only the X-55 is publicly available, which conceptually corresponds to the X-101), we see that the missile body compartments are first equipped with a guidance system, and then a warhead with explosives.

In the first photo above, we can even notice the rather clumsily made fasteners that attach this “dummy” to the main part of the missile body.

It is known from open sources that the weight of the warhead of the X-101 missile reaches 400 kilograms, with high explosive equipment. But here we must understand that these 400 kg are not only the explosives, but also the outer shell. The design of which is clearly designed to produce maximum effect in the event of damage to industrial facilities and/or civilian infrastructure.

Earlier, Defense Express told you about the X-BD missile, which Shoigu said existed, and how it might differ from the X-101.
