Our media, citing sources in the SBU, report that on September 14, 2023, our Sea Baby kamikaze boat shot down a Samum hovercraft from the Russian Black Sea Fleet. It is noted that this attack took place literally at the exit from Sevastopol Bay, our marine drone hit the stern on the right side. As a result, the Samum missile ship lost its momentum and had to be towed for repairs.
It is also noted that the attack allegedly used an experimental model that can operate in a storm. And that during this attack, the height of the waves allegedly reached 1.5-2 meters.
In this story, it is worth focusing on what kind of missile ship the Samum is and what gives us successful damage to this enemy unit. To put it simply, in this attack our kamikaze boat successfully damaged the enemy’s “floating analog network”, the destruction of which will in turn ensure freedom of navigation in the Black Sea.
To be more specific, the Russian missile ship Samum belongs to Project 1239, and the Rashists have only two such ships, all of which belong to the Russian Black Sea Fleet. Rashist propaganda has long emphasized that these hovercraft are essentially destroyers in terms of firepower, although they have the dimensions of small missile ships, and this comparison directly stemmed from the characteristics of Project 1239 missile ships.
With a hull length of only 65 meters and a width of 17.2 meters, and a total displacement of only 1,050 tons, these ships are armed with 8 launchers for P-270 Mosquito anti-ship missiles and one 76-mm artillery launcher. For comparison, the Project 956 destroyers in the Russian Navy also had 8 P-270 Mosquito launchers as their main armament.
