WhatsApp introduces login feature via access keys on iPhone
WhatsApp for iOS becomes even more secure by introducing biometric access keys. Users can now use Face ID or Touch ID to log in to the app, providing greater security for their personal data.
This was reported by The Verge.
WhatsApp already supports unlocking its iOS app using one of these options, but the current update will allow you to log in to your account as well as the app. The access key support comes to the iPhone version a few months after Meta started rolling it out to Android WhatsApp users in October.
Access keys are expected to become more secure and replace password authentication and two-factor verification via SMS. This also means that you can log in even if you are not connected to the network because your phone contains an authentication key.
To check if you have this feature, WhatsApp says you’ll see this option under Settings > Account > Passwords. However, such deployments can take time, so this may appear a little later.
