WhatsApp will be able to convert voice messages to text

The WhatsApp beta program for Android has added an optional text-to-speech feature for voice messages, which requires downloading a 150 MB module.

Voice messages, which have appeared in many modern messengers, have quickly gained popularity, but this feature has many opponents who are unwilling or unable to listen to them, for example, due to hearing problems or noisy environments. Developers were willing to help, and as a result, many solutions appeared, from third-party to built-in. For example, Telegram was first flooded with specialized bots, and then its own function appeared, albeit as part of a paid subscription. It seems that WhatsApp has decided to listen to the voice of the suffering.

The screenshot shows WhatsApp offering to download the speech recognition module and enable end-to-end encryption voice message decryption, but it’s hard to say when this feature will be available on the stable update channel.
