Where there is light — an online map of establishments in Ukraine with autonomous power that can work during blackouts

On November 15, as Ukrainian intelligence had warned, the Russians once again launched a massive missile attack on critical infrastructure facilities in most regions — air defense shot down many enemy missiles, but there were also hits. In many cities and regions, emergency blackouts have already been introduced (there are problems with light and communication, but emergency services are already working), so it will not be superfluous to remind about the interactive map of institutions with autonomous power, which the LUN City team launched the day before.

The map is available on the website and in the application (Android and iOS) – it is constantly updated.

Currently, most gas station networks have their own generators and provide themselves with electricity completely autonomously. The chain of food supermarkets “Silpo” also has generators at the main points and plans to expand the network of autonomous points – today it has more than 50 locations. Nova Poshta, Comfy, Foxtrot and a number of other networks are also partially equipped with their own generators.

In total, as of November 14, there were already more than 1,850 establishments on the Light Map from LUN City, which work even during general blackouts.

Non-network businesses can add establishments by filling out a short online form. At the same time, network business representatives who have several establishments with autonomous power at different addresses are asked to write letters to [email protected] with the subject “Light”.

The OP reported that the situation in the energy sector is critical as a result of the massive missile attack on Ukraine. Most of the hits were recorded in the center and north of the country. Stabilization shutdown schedules are currently not in effect. It is also known that mobile operators have limited the operation of some services in order to save electricity for the ability to make calls. Such restrictions were introduced at least in Lviv.

Also, Yuriy Ignat reported that more than 100 rockets were fired over Ukraine, which in turn surpassed the shelling on October 10, when 84 rockets were fired.

The useful LUN City map was launched in March 2022 to help Ukrainians find pharmacies, gas stations, and supermarkets operating during the war. Since then, developers have been actively developing the service — at the end of April, a separate layer appeared with streets that were recently renamed with Russian names. At the end of September, the LUN City team launched an interactive map with vaccination points against covid, and a few days after 80% of consumers in Kyiv were left without water supply due to a missile attack on an energy facility, a map of pump stations and drinking water machines.
