Windows 11 will connect your guests to Wi-Fi via QR code

The latest version of Windows 11 makes it easier to use your home Wi-Fi when you have guests over. The preview build 25977 available on the Canary channel has a feature to allow someone to connect to your Wi-Fi network by simply scanning a QR code.

It works like this: you go to Wi-Fi properties and when you view the Wi-Fi password, a QR code is now displayed. All guests need to do to log in to the Wi-Fi network is scan this QR code with their device’s camera, and they’re done.

So, there’s no need to manually enter the password for the Wi-Fi router or dive into Settings and the Network and Sharing Center and fiddle around in those submenus.

This preview build has one more change related to Wi-Fi privacy. Microsoft has introduced a feature that allows you to control apps that have access to a list of Wi-Fi networks in your area (since these networks can be used to pinpoint your location in the real world).

If you do not want the program to have such powers, you can simply block it (this option is available in the Settings section > Privacy and Security > Location).
