Wizz Air removes Ukrainian soldier with prosthesis from plane

The Hungarian airline Wizz Air removed a Ukrainian veteran from an airplane. It happened because he could not sit in his seat because of the prosthesis. The video was posted on TikTok. Read more about the scandal and how the company explained it.

The social network notes that this happened at the airport in Tel Aviv (Israel). The man said he lost his leg in the war and was flying to Warsaw and then to his family in Ukraine. However, the staff did not allow him to fly and took him off the plane.

The video went viral on the Internet, and the company received a flurry of dissatisfied comments on social media. At first, Wizz Air said it was aware of the situation and had launched an investigation. Later, she published a detailed explanation.

“We apologize for the recent incident involving a passenger on our flight from Tel Aviv to Warsaw. Safety is our number one priority and our crew is responsible for ensuring that all passengers are fit to fly or are accompanied by someone who can support them. If there is any indication that a passenger has a medical condition that could put them at risk during the flight, we are obliged to refuse to board. In this case, it was a difficult but necessary decision made with the passenger’s safety in mind. He was provided with water and a place to sit while he waited for the airport staff to help him. Thank you for your understanding,” the airline said.

She also added that she would never discriminate against anyone because of a disability and regularly flies with passengers with prostheses.

However, judging by new negative comments, users were not satisfied with this answer.
