Xiaomi stops supporting 32-bit applications

“Xiaomi will switch to 64-bit applications starting in July. Support for the 32-bit software ecosystem will be discontinued on May 08. The reason is the desire of the Chinese tech giant to follow in unison with Google, which made the corresponding decision the day before.

As the 64-bit format is “fixed”, all programs that are not compatible with the above ecosystem will be removed from the Xiaomi store.

Developers have been asked to convert their products to the new format by July 1. If this is not done, the applications that do not comply with the 64-bit system will be forcibly removed from the Xiaomi branded store.

The conversion of processor cores to Arm-architecture is intended to improve the performance of Android applications, help reduce power consumption and optimize programs for better performance.

According to Xiaomi representatives, the transition to the 64-bit version will make life easier for both developers and users of applications in the long run.

It is noted that the announced event is unlikely to affect the comfort of software consumers, as almost all important programs have been transferred to the 64-bit architecture.
