Xiaomi unveils the first AI-powered indoor video surveillance camera with 8-megapixel resolution

“Xiaomi has enriched the optics market with its first-ever smart indoor video surveillance camera with local AI, 4K HDR resolution, and HyperOS support.

The new product, called Xiaomi C700, boasts an 8-megapixel sensor and the ability to record clear footage with a resolution of 3840×2160 pixels. The camera is equipped with a 5x lens with wide pan/tilt capabilities, which allows it to monitor large areas without blind spots.

The camera’s night vision is provided by 10 infrared LEDs, which guarantee a clear image at a distance of up to 10 meters. Local artificial intelligence supports the functions of detecting baby crying, tracking pets, and can notify about anomalies in the “area of responsibility”.

The device also boasts gesture recognition, two-way audio, powerful connectivity thanks to dual-band Wi-Fi 6, and easy integration with other smart home devices via HyperOS Connect.

For security, data is transmitted with encryption, plus a special Mi Home chip is used.

Storage capabilities are provided by a microSD card up to 256 GB and NAS compatibility.

The C700 costs ¥349 in Chinese retailers, which is about $49 in yuan terms.

Sales of the new product will begin on May 10 at 10:00 a.m. Beijing time on the JD.com platform.
