YouTube launches AI that will skip boring moments in videos: learn how to activate the new feature

Jump Ahead is currently available only for Android and only for videos in English.

YouTube will soon roll out a new AI-powered feature called Jump Ahead. It’s already available as a bonus for YouTube Premium subscribers, reports Android Authority.

Jump Ahead allows you to skip to the best parts of the video, skipping boring and/or uninteresting parts of the video. The feature will be powered by AI, which analyzes user data and assumes that a person wants to see what they are really interested in.

Previously, the feature was only available to select Premium users in the U.S., but now all YouTube Premium subscribers can try it out by visiting youtube.com/new. After the user agrees to participate in the test, the Jump Ahead button will appear. Double-tap the button to skip to the next video or rewind a clip. However, the company notes that not all videos support this feature yet.

Currently, this feature only works in the YouTube Android app and is only available for videos in English.

Since this is an experimental feature, the company said that it can be tested only until June 1, 2024. After this period, the platform will either provide the opportunity to use it for all Premium subscriptions or continue the experiment.
