A year ago, Ukrainian troops de-occupied the city during a counteroffensive in the Kharkiv region. The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces recalled how it happened.
Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Valeriy Zaluzhnyi published a unique video on the anniversary of the de-occupation of Balakliya in Kharkiv region from the Russian Armed Forces. This is known from his post on Telegram on September 8.
A year ago, on September 8, 2022, the defenders regained control of Balakliya. This happened during the first stage of the Slobozhansky offensive.
“Balakliya was an important communication hub in the south of Kharkiv region, and its de-occupation created favorable conditions for the development of the offensive on Kupyansk,” the Armed Forces Commander-in-Chief recalled.
He said that tank, mechanized, and light motorized units took part in the offensive in Kharkiv region, supported by long-range artillery and multiple launch rocket systems. After the breakthrough of the Russian occupiers’ defenses, mobile raiding groups began to liberate the territories.
“I thank the Ukrainian defenders. Together – to Victory,” Zaluzhny added.
As a reminder, according to the Oryx project, the Russian Armed Forces have already lost 402 T-80BV tanks during the full-scale war in Ukraine. In total, the Russian occupiers have already lost 622 T-80 tanks of various modifications.
The State Border Guard Service showed the destruction of two Russian trucks near Kupyansk. The Steel Front fighters used FPV drones to neutralize Russian Armed Forces UAZs near the front line.
