Belarus has developed its own reconnaissance drone “Spotter-PB-3”
The Belarusian enterprise “Research and Production Center for Multifunctional Unmanned Systems” has presented a new reconnaissance drone, the Spotter-PB-3. The UAV is made of composite materials, can reach speeds of up to 65 km/h, and can stay in the air for up to 90 minutes.
Company representatives note that the drone is specially designed for Special Operations Forces (SOF). The drone’s construction includes composite materials and foam. This makes it possible to include it in the backpack of the Special Forces soldiers, which, in addition to the 5 kg drone, contains a ground control station in the form of a portable tablet and antenna. During transportation, the wings of the vehicle must be disconnected from the fuselage.
The Spotter PB-3 fixed-wing UAV has a high-positioned straight wing and a traditional tail section with horizontal fins and vertical rudders. An electric motor with a two-blade pushing propeller is installed in the middle of the high-mounted wing.
In the lower part of the fuselage, in the center, there is an optoelectronic sensor consisting of either a television camera or an infrared camera, which is extended in flight and retracted into the fuselage when landing. The UAV has an inertial navigation system on board. The vehicle is launched from the hand and lands on the fuselage without a parachute.
