China Challenges the United States: Newest Invisible Strike Drone “Sharp Sword” Appears
The Gonji-11, an invisible drone developed by China, was publicly demonstrated during the National Day military parade in October 2019, and a scale model of the GJ-11 was presented at the China Airshow 2021, demonstrating its offensive capabilities thanks to its internal compartments. is designed to transport high-precision ammunition.
The Gonji-11 (GJ-11) drone, developed jointly by the Shenyang Aircraft Design Institute, Shenyang Aerospace University, and the Hongdu Aviation Industry Group, is the result of cooperation between academia and industry under China’s AVIC 601-S program.
Thanks to its unique turbofan engine, flying wing design, stealth technology, and 14-meter wingspan, the Sharp Sword skillfully combines stealth technology with operational efficiency.
The GJ-11’s stealthiness is not only a matter of form, but also of function. The drone’s design minimizes visibility to enemy radars, which is essential for reconnaissance and combat operations.
Its internal weapon bay and ability to carry up to two tons of payload indicate its offensive purpose, while its maximum takeoff weight of 10 tons and speed of 1000 km/h make it a formidable weapon in the sky.
The GJ-11 has a combat range of 1200 km and is capable of taking off autonomously from Type 075 amphibious assault ships. A low-observable drone can deploy multiple airborne decoys or electronic warfare systems, as well as launch precision munitions.
