Russia’s only plant for the production of new infantry fighting vehicles and armored personnel carriers may be submerged due to flooding (official map)

Large-scale flooding continues in the regions of Russia bordering Kazakhstan, which was caused by emergency discharges from reservoirs. And one of the Russian cities, Kurgan, is at risk of suffering the most due to the Tobol River flooding.

Despite the fact that the “big water” has not yet reached it, evacuations have already been announced from areas that will definitely go underwater, and at higher levels, water floods most of the city. This is evidenced by official maps from the city’s local administration.

It shows yellow and red shaded areas that will go underwater in any case, because it is about water levels of 7.7 meters and 9 meters. And the lines are forecasts depending on the water level, ranging from 11 meters to 14 meters.

In this situation, the territory of Kurganmashzavod is the most interesting, as it is the only manufacturer of new infantry and airborne combat vehicles in Russia. All BMP-3 and BMD-4 are manufactured there. It is also modernizing BMP-2s with Berezhok combat modules, producing Rakushka, Sprut and other armored vehicles.

And on the map with flood forecasts, his neighborhood is within the 12-meter mark:

At the same time, even the Russian Federation is not publicly stating what water level is expected in Kurgan, giving vague estimates of more than 11 meters, or a “corridor” of 9-14 meters.

The local authorities of Kurahne say that the city can avoid catastrophic consequences only if natural circumstances are favorable. The water rise is expected to peak by April 14.

Thus, there are well-founded expectations that nature will strike the Russian arms manufacturer harder than all sanctions combined. Because if Kurganmashzavod is flooded, it will suspend its operations.
