The Witcher season three finale – the last three episodes with Henry Cavill as Geralt – has been released on Netflix

On July 27, as expected, the third season of The Witcher ended on Netflix – the last three episodes of the continuation of the series based on Andrzej Sapkowski’s fantasy cycle with Henry Cavill as Geralt are already available for viewing in the streaming library with full (studio) Ukrainian dubbing.

The total running time of the final episodes is almost 3 hours. As a reminder, the third season adapts the fourth book of the Time of Shame series (the series includes eight books in total). As you may recall, the first season is mostly a free interpretation of some stories from the first two books of the Witcher saga (“The Last Wish” and “The Sword of Destiny”), and the second season is based on the third book, “Blood of Elves” and partially on stories from the previous collections mentioned above.

This is the last season for Henry Cavill, with whom many people associated the project – as has been repeatedly reported, Liam Hemsworth, the youngest of the three Hemsworth brothers (The Expendables 2 and The Hunger Games), will replace the actor from the fourth season. The producers of The Witcher, Tomas Baginski and Steve Gaub, promised that the change from Henry Cavill to Liam Hemsworth would not be out of the literary canon, and that the transfer of the medallion and swords would be “smooth and even.” Nevertheless, the show is still among the most popular English-language series in different countries, despite an anti-record in viewer ratings – 24% “freshness” on Rotten Tomatoes and 2.2 points out of 10 on Metacritic.

Netflix has already renewed The Witcher for two seasons – production on the fifth season is due to start shortly after the fourth season, which was recently postponed to 2024 due to a joint strike by writers and actors in Hollywood. That is, we can’t expect the fourth season before 2025.

  • The second season of The Witcher was released on Netflix on December 17, 2021 (two years after the first) and became one of the top 10 most popular English-language series in Netflix’s history. The show is based on the books by the famous Polish writer Andrzej Sapkowski and has nothing to do with CD Projekt RED games.
  • Earlier, Netflix released the animated film The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf” / “The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf, which received positive reviews, as well as the prequel Bloodline, which set an anti-record as the lowest rated Netflix series in history. Netflix also has at least two more projects in the Witcher universe – an animated film and an animated series for children.
  • In July, it was reported that Netflix had completed filming the second spinoff of The Witcher, about the Rat Pack, ahead of schedule. Most likely, it will eventually turn out to be a miniseries of 4-5 episodes or a movie.
