“Hunting for Lancets”: how ZU-23-2 shoots down Russian kamikaze drones (video)
Ukrainian anti-aircraft gunners are covering the Defense Forces in the Bakhmut sector, where the offensive continues. One of the threats is Russian kamikaze drones.
ZU-23-2 unit of the 30th separate mechanized brigade named after Prince Kostiantyn Ostrozky hunts for Russian Lancet kamikaze drones in Donetsk region. This was reported by ArmyInform.
The Ukrainian Armed Forces’ offensive is covered by numerous SAM units, including ZU-23-2 anti-aircraft guns. The task of the units is to cover Ukrainian assault units from Lancet kamikaze strikes and reconnaissance with Orlan, Zala and a number of other drones. It is noted that reconnaissance drones usually fly at high altitudes, so they are usually “hunted” by the Strela-10 air defense system and Western air defense systems.
The military are on duty in hidden positions. While the journalists were at the position, they received information about the use of two UAVs by the occupiers – “Orlan” and “Lancet”. The first one was taken in the sights of fighters using Strela-10 SAMs, and the second one by ZU-23-2 anti-aircraft gunners.
“And the dangerous Lancet becomes a target first for small arms, and then for the Zeushka, which rolls out from under cover to the edge of the field. We can hear shots from other positions where our colleagues are on duty. But this time, the Lancet flew over us too fast and too far, so other units will shoot it down,” the author notes.
