More than 200 Ukrainian servicemen complete training program on M1 Abrams tanks in Germany
The Ukrainian military has completed a 12-week training program on the use of American M1 Abrams tanks in Germany.
The information was shared by Business Insider. Despite the completion of the course, the crews will not be returning to Ukraine. According to Colonel Martin O’Donnell, the representative of the US Army in Europe, Ukraine has asked to leave the military in Germany until the delivery of tanks begins. Currently, the soldiers have been transferred to other training grounds where they will maintain their knowledge and skills.
The United States plans to start delivering combat vehicles in September. First, the tanks will arrive in Germany. They are going to modernize them and then hand them over to the Armed Forces. The first batch should consist of 6-8 tanks. In total, Ukraine will receive 31 Abrams tanks of the M1A1 modification from the United States.
