Ukrainian Armed Forces to receive “reflash” Taurus KEPD 350 missiles (video)
The decision on Taurus missiles will be made by the end of September. This was announced by Boris Pistorius during a speech in the city of Munster, where the Westphalian Peace Conference is taking place.
Earlier, there were rumors that only 150 of the 600 missiles were in combat condition. The Defense Minister said that the Bundeswehr has more than 500 missiles in storage, 250 of which can be “updated and reflashed.” Obviously, “flashing” means limiting the range of missiles. In addition, German experts can program Taurus in such a way that the Ukrainian military cannot use them to strike at Russian territory.
It is difficult to say whether the minister was referring to the transfer of 250 cruise missiles to Ukraine. According to experts, this option cannot be ruled out. After the Ukrainian army receives the Taurus KEPD 350, its capabilities to engage targets in the deep rear will expand. Official Berlin decided to supply missiles after Washington’s decision to transfer ATACMS to Ukrainian artillery.
