Miniature reconnaissance system weighing 70 grams: the latest Black Hornet 4 nano-drone with a 12MP camera and thermal imager is presented
Teledyne FLIR has announced the Black Hornet 4 drone. The company positions the new product as a miniature personal intelligence system.
Black Hornet 4 is based largely on the previous generation model. The company said that since 2017, it has delivered approximately 20,000 Black Hornet 3 drones to customers, of which 1,000 were delivered to Ukraine thanks to the UK and Norway. The new nano-platform is designed to provide improved situational awareness in conflict situations.
Black Hornet 4 weighs 70 g. The drone is equipped with a main camera with a resolution of 12 MP. According to the manufacturer, the specialists managed to improve the module’s low-light capabilities. A high-resolution thermal imager is installed next to the conventional camera.
The unmanned aerial vehicle is equipped with a rechargeable battery that provides up to 30 minutes of flight time. The range is 2 km. Black Hornet 4 can perform missions at wind speeds of 45 km/h.
