Google Search gets its own AI image generator
For now, only for users from the USA and aged 18+
To use the new feature, you will have to connect to Google Labs and Search Generative Experience (SGE).
It seems that the days of having to visit third-party sites to generate images are slowly coming to an end – now you can use the power of the neural network right in Google search.
To do this, as with other tools, you need to enter a text prompt, and in a few seconds the system will give you the finished result. You can export images to Google Drive or download them to your device.
What’s more, you can generate images in Google Images and go further by using Google Lens to search for real images based on the AI generated ones.
For now, the feature is only available to users from the US, in English-language apps, and for users aged 18 and older. In addition, you must first register with Google Labs and the Search Generative Experience (SGE) program.
The other restrictions relate to the prohibition of creating images of celebrities, and in general photorealistic images of any human face.
The new features are available on the Labs tab (flask icon) in the Google app on iOS, Android, and Chrome desktop.
Also, images in Google Search will now be marked with the SynthID system, which will highlight AI creativity with a digital watermark.
