Military tests unique VTOL drone Transwing

The US Navy has received a Transwing drone from Pterodynamics for flight testing. This was reported by New Atlas.

If necessary, the Transwing cruise airframe can switch to eVTOL mode. During the test, the aircraft demonstrated the ability to autonomously land in the truck body while driving.

The U.S. Navy plans to use Transwing aircraft to transport cargo from warships to shore. During the tests, the drone flew nine times from the deck of the USNS Burlington.

The declared payload of the Transwing is 6.8 kg with a takeoff weight of 38 kg. The drone’s flight range can reach 111 km. It can cover this distance at a speed of 185 km/h.
