YouTube may block Russian music
Russian music is to be completely banned from YouTube and mobile apps in Ukraine. The Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine is working on this issue together with media representatives. This was reported by Ukrainian journalist and blogger Yanina Sokolova.
Sokolova said that she had spoken with representatives of the Ministry of Digital Transformation about boycotting Russian music in Ukraine.
“Then we got down to business. Because in Ukraine, if you look at iTunes and Spotify, Russian artists are trending. I have a 13-year-old son, and I ask him what his classmates listen to. We pay them. They take this money and throw it at us. So, unfortunately, most people are stupid. Most are people without critical thinking. We have to help them. That’s why we have already sent a number of documents to the Ministry of Digital Transformation to ensure that there is no Russian music on YouTube in Ukraine and that Russian music is banned from all applications in Ukraine,” Yanina Sokolova said.
The problem concerns not only content produced in Russia by Russian artists. Yanina is convinced that music, blogs, and interviews of Russians recognized as “foreign agents” should also be banned.
“It doesn’t matter. Whether he is a foreign agent or not, he is driving us into Russian space. I don’t care if Vika Tsyganova and her husband live or die. Do you want to laugh? I can laugh at other things. Now we have millions of viewers and half of the population remembers who Vika Tsyganova is,” the Ukrainian added once and for all.
