Germany strengthens Ukraine: additional IRIS T-SLM air defense systems and weapons worth 1.3 billion euros
German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius, who arrived in Kyiv on November 21, announced a new aid package for Ukraine worth 1.3 billion euros.
The official said this during a briefing with his Ukrainian counterpart Rustem Umerov, a Suspilne correspondent reports.
Pistorius noted that the list would include, among others, the following:
- four IRIS-T SLM air defense systems;
- 20 thousand shells of 155-mm caliber;
- anti-tank mines.
The head of the German Defense Ministry added that the allocation of the new package signals that Germany is “steadfast and reliable” with Ukraine.
Military aid from Germany
On July 11, during the NATO summit, Pistorius said that Germany had allocated a military aid package to Ukraine worth about 700 million euros.
On August 9, Germany reported the transfer of two Patriot air defense missile launchers, on August 17 – two IRIS-T launchers, and on August 30 – 10 Leopard 1A5 tanks.
On September 5, it became known that Germany had handed over to Ukraine ammunition for Gepard self-propelled anti-aircraft guns, which had just been produced on the restored line.
On October 2, Germany announced another package of military aid to Ukraine. It includes all-terrain vehicles, radios for Leopard tanks, a Biber bridge paver, ammunition and components for the military.
On October 10, Germany announces a military aid package to Kyiv totaling about 1 billion euros, including air defense systems, ten Leopard 1A5 tanks, three Gepard self-propelled anti-aircraft guns, twenty Medevacs, and 15 armored vehicles.
On October 13, Germany announced a new defense aid package, which includes 4 Bandvagn 206 all-terrain vehicles (BV206), 82 SatCom, 4 border guard vehicles, 50 drone detection systems, and more.
On October 20, the German government allocated three more GEPARD anti-aircraft systems, nearly 4,000 rounds of 155 mm ammunition, drones and other equipment to Ukraine.
On November 2, the German government handed over a new military aid package to Ukraine, which included radars for the IRIS-T air defense system.
