A new level of message security: Meta introduces end-to-end encryption on Facebook and Messenger
Meta has started implementing end-to-end encryption for all private chats and calls on Messenger and Facebook, Reuters reports.
According to Meta, this feature is already available to users, but it may take some time for all Messenger accounts to be updated to end-to-end encryption by default.
Previously, Messenger had an option to enable end-to-end encryption, which allowed only the sender and the recipient to read messages. However, end-to-end encryption will now be enabled by default for all messages.
Meta stated that encryption can help protect users from hackers, fraudsters, and criminals.
