A rather rare ‘Vodnyk’ trophy was at the disposal of the soldiers of the Armed Forces
Servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine managed to ‘win’ a rather rare specimen of Russian military equipment. It is about the SUV GAZ-3937 ‘Vodnyk’. This became known from the military expert Oleksandr Kovalenko.
From the message he published in the Telegram messenger, it follows that about 50 such SUVs are in service with the Russian army. According to Kovalenko, a day before the ‘Vodnyk’ was at the disposal of the soldiers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, they captured the ‘Layer-3’ Russian EW complex.
The GAZ-3937 lightly armored off-road vehicle is used by the Russian Army to transport cargo and personnel in difficult-to-pass areas. The SUV boasts light armor that protects crew members from small arms. The capacity of ‘Vodnyk’ is 11 people. The first lightly armored SUV was assembled in Russia in 2005. The main competitive advantage of the car is the ability to swim over water obstacles.
The ‘Vodnyk’ SUV did not gain particular popularity in the world. It is in service only with the Russian and Uruguayan armies. Russia uses armored SUVs in Ukraine not because of a good life. The occupiers feel a deficit in BBM.
