Amazon founder Bezos regains the title of the world’s richest man, overtaking Elon Musk

Jeff Bezos, the founder of Amazon, regained the title of the world’s richest man, overtaking Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla.

This was due to the growth of Amazon and other tech companies. Bezos’s fortune is now estimated at $200 billion, which is $2 billion more than Musk’s. The last time Bezos was the leader was in 2021.

Amazon’s 17% rise this year was the catalyst for Bezos’ return to the top. Bezos owns 9% of Amazon, so his personal wealth directly depends on the value of the company’s shares.

Elon Musk, who has dominated the list of the richest people for the past 9 months, is now in second place. Tesla’s 24% decline in share price in 2024 pushed it back.

Bernard Arnault, chairman of LVMH Moet Hennessy Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton, rounds out the top three with a net worth of $197 billion.
