An assault APC for Azov will be created on the basis of the T-62 tank
The Azov National Guard Brigade will soon receive an assault armored personnel carrier based on a trophy T-62 tank. The project was financed by the Serhiy Prytula Foundation.
The turret with the 115-mm 2A20 cannon from the Russian tank captured by the Ukrainian Armed Forces is being dismantled, as there is a shortage of ammunition for it in Ukraine. Instead of a turret, two armored points will be mounted on the tank. It will be armed with two large-caliber machine guns.
“Azov will use a modified T-62 tank to assault Russian infantry positions. Another T-62 will be converted into a repair and recovery vehicle. According to Prytula, the cost of the modification is from 600 thousand. up to UAH 1.5 million per tank. The Foundation financed the upgrade of 32 armored vehicles.
