Ukrainian business is almost doubling the cost of electricity: soon we should expect higher prices for goods
Business costs for electricity will increase significantly. This will quickly affect the prices of goods and services for consumers. This is reported by Channel 24 with reference to the NEURC.
The National Energy and Utilities Regulatory Commission adopted a resolution to increase the ceiling prices for electricity for business. The new tariffs for entrepreneurs will take effect on June 30.
What will be the new tariffs for business
According to the NEURC’s decision, three levels of maximum prices for time slots during the day will be effective from June 30. We are talking about the following indicators:
- night period (00:00 – 07:00): 3000 UAH/MWh;
- daytime hours (07:00 to 19:00): 5000 UAH/MWh;
- evening peak (from 19:00 to 23:00): 7200 UAH/MWh.
None of the regulator’s members reported the reasons for such a large increase in electricity prices for businesses. As a reminder, starting from July 1, 2019, the wholesale electricity market model will set the maximum price ceiling at UAH 4,000 per MWh.
By the way, when the electricity prices for households were raised, the NEURC also submitted a corresponding resolution to the government without any discussion.
