7 Su-34 aircraft were recorded at the ‘Baranovichi’ airfield. One of them is equipped with missiles that can hit targets at a distance of up to 260 km.
The Ministry of Defense of Belarus published a video from the ‘Baranovichi’ airfield, which shows the course of joint exercises with the Russian Federation. An anti-ship missile was spotted on the Su-34 fighter-bomber.
In the course of the exercises, the Belarusian agency reported that the exercises are taking place ‘in a calm environment.’ At least 7 Su-34s were shown at the airfield, of which only two were at Baranovichi since August 2022. The publication Defense Express drew attention to the fact that at least one of the aircraft has Kh-35 missiles installed on the hanger.
Belarus is landlocked, so the footage most likely features a version of the Kh-35U missile equipped with a satellite navigation system. The practice of using such ammunition in the Russian Federation was worked out in Syria. The Kh-35U was repeatedly used against ground targets. The publication also claims that the Kh-35 of the Russian Armed Forces was repeatedly used for attacks on Ukraine.
The flight range of the standard version of the Kh-35 is 130 km, and the Kh-35U is 260 km. The mass of the warhead of the missile is 145, and the speed of the missile is up to 900 km/h.
It is interesting that at one point in the video from the Ministry of Defense, the cockpit of the plane enters the frame. The inscription ‘NSC failure’ on it is a failure of the helmet-mounted targeting system. It is responsible for displaying instrument indicators on the screen in front of the pilot’s eyes.
