Boris Johnson stated that Eurovision-2023 should be held in Ukraine: everything will be fine in a year

After his visit to Kyiv, the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom Boris Johnson said that Ukraine deserved to host Eurovision-2023 on its territory, as it had won this year’s competition. The politician is convinced that our country will be able to organize the show, despite the war against Russia, especially since it has another year to prepare.

Johnson’s words were published by The Guardian. He admitted that he was attracted by the possibility of holding Eurovision in Great Britain, but he called it unfair for Ukraine.

“Ukrainians won Eurovision 2022. I know we had a good song and I would very much like the next contest to take place in the UK. But Ukrainians deserve it. I think they should have the right to hold the contest in Ukraine. I believe that Kyiv or any other safe Ukrainian city could host Eurovision 2023. Another year before the competition, everything will be fine by then,” – said the British Prime Minister.

It will be recalled that on Friday, June 17, it became known that Eurovision 2023 will be held in the United Kingdom, whose representative took second place in this year’s competition.

Minister of Culture and Information Policy Oleksandr Tkachenko stated that Ukraine does not agree with the nature of the decision of the European Language Union on the impossibility of holding Eurovision-2023 in our country. He demanded additional talks, the outcome of which will satisfy both sides.
