Controlling electronics with your mind. Elon Musk’s startup Neuralink starts human neurochip trials

On September 19, Neuralink, a startup owned by Elon Musk that develops brain chips, announced the start of clinical trials of a brain implant in humans. This implant is intended for patients with paralysis.

The company has received approval from an independent commission to begin the first human trial of a brain implant for patients with paralysis.

The study will test the safety and effectiveness of the wireless implantable brain-computer interface Neuralink to enable people with paralysis to control external electronic devices with their minds.

Neuralink clarified that patients with paralysis due to cervical spinal cord injury or amyotrophic lateral sclerosis will participate in the trial.

Two years earlier, Musk’s company implanted its technology into a pig’s head, and a little more than 19 months later, into a monkey.

On December 1, 2022, Elon Musk announced the testing of the chip on humans.
