For the first time, the Russian Defense Ministry openly recognized the Iranian origin of the Geranium-2 drone

Amid Saeed Irani, who serves as Iran’s UN envoy, continues to deny supplying kamikaze drones to Russia. The diplomat claims that official Tehran does not support any of the parties to the Russian-Ukrainian conflict.

This week, the Army Collection magazine, published by the Russian Defense Ministry, published an article about kamikaze drones. It suggests that the Geranium-2 drone is an Iranian Shahed-136. The article presents the tactical and technical characteristics of the aircraft. In addition to Shahed-136, the article mentions the Shahed-129 drone.

It is noteworthy that earlier this month, Iranian authorities once again denied accusations of supplying Russia with kamikaze drones. Meanwhile, Iranian cargo planes land at Moscow’s Vnukovo airport with enviable regularity. It is easy to guess that they deliver military cargo to Russia. The official Tehran’s position is that the Ukrainian side has not provided evidence of the Iranian origin of the “Geranium-2” drones.
