French-Swedish high-precision BONUS projectiles were spotted in the Armed Forces: what makes them special (photo)

The ammunition was designed to destroy armored vehicles. One projectile in the air splits into two sub-munitions, which detect and attack the target while still in the air.

The artillerymen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine received BONUS high-precision anti-tank artillery shells. Ukraine Weapons Tracker analysts report this.

The first confirmation of the use of Ukrainian military BONUS projectiles appeared on the network. The supply was not officially announced. The 155-mm projectile consists of submunitions that find targets using a LIDAR radar and three infrared sensors.

Ammunition remnants fell into the hands of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation. They also published his photo, where the BONUS marking is visible.

The BONUS ammunition was developed in cooperation between Bofors from Sweden and NEXTER from France. The 155-mm projectile is designed for long-range strikes against armored vehicles. Mass production began in 1992. BONUS consists of two submunitions that attack the tank in the roof of the turret. A hit at an almost vertical angle is achieved with the help of a flight path. At a certain moment, the projectile charge separates the warheads from the container, and then the submunitions spin in the air and fly towards the target.
