General Dynamics has developed TRX SHORAD: a robotic air defense system with missile armament and a 30-mm cannon

General Dynamics has announced the creation of a robotic air defense system with the TRX autonomous control system. The development demonstrates a significant leap forward in the development of air defense and offers a dual approach to effectively neutralize air threats.

The TRX SHORAD system is equipped with remote-controlled weapons. The station has one 30-mm automatic cannon and two rocket launchers with four rockets each, ready to fire Stinger ammunition. The heat-seeking missile realizes its capabilities to track and neutralize threats based on thermal signatures from aircraft engines.

The 30mm cannon provides a high rate of fire, making it an important asset for engaging air and ground targets, including low-altitude, low-speed aircraft, helicopters and UAVs. The integration of these two powerful systems provides a comprehensive air defense capability, ensuring reliable protection of ground forces from air threats.

TRX SHORAD is an unmanned ground vehicle that provides versatility in the use of air defense and reconnaissance on the battlefield. Equipped with sophisticated sensors and AI-based surveillance technologies, the TRX robot serves as the eyes and ears of the SHORAD system, offering effective and intelligent threat countermeasures.

The combat vehicle is based on a universal tracked chassis weighing 10,000 kg and a payload of 450 kg. Its design is designed to accommodate different mission equipment packages, making it adaptable to many operational needs. The hybrid powertrain includes a diesel engine, batteries, and electric motors and provides the TRX with exceptional mobility and sufficient power for both its own systems and payload power.

The introduction of the TRX SHORAD, equipped with a mix of 30mm cannon and Stinger missiles, and technical prowess, the TRX is a new word in air defense technology. The universal system not only addresses the immediate challenges associated with UAVs, but also sets a new standard for future air defense solutions.
