HIMARS brilliantly eliminated the launcher of a rare Grad-1 MLRS of the occupiers (video)
Ukrainian defenders destroyed the 9P138 launcher of the rare Grad-1 multiple rocket launcher.
The launcher was destroyed by a GMLRS high-precision munition in Donetsk Oblast. The 9P138 is part of a multiple launch rocket system. It also includes a 9E450 transport machine. The 9P138 has 36 rails and uses a ZIL-131 truck as a chassis.
The Grad-1 system can use various types of 122.4 mm caliber ammunition, including those containing a cluster warhead. The maximum range of this system is from 1500 meters to 15,000 meters. The time required to fire a full salvo is 18 seconds.
Oryx writes that the Ukrainian military has previously eliminated only four 9P138 combat vehicles from the Grad-1 stockpile. In comparison, more than 100 BM-21 Grad multiple rocket launchers were destroyed and about three dozen more were captured.
