“Inside Out 2: Pixar’s Oscar-winning animated film gets a sequel – with a new disturbing emotion by Maya Hawke

The animated film will be released in June 2024, almost 9 years after the original debut.

The original 2015 Pixar film, directed by Pete Docter, told the story of 11-year-old Riley (Caitlin Diaz) and her five emotions – Joy (Amy Poehler), Sadness (Phyllis Smith), Disgust (Mindy Kaling), Fear (Bill Hader) and Anger (Lewis Black). The sequel is expected to add to the lineup: during her 13th birthday celebration, the girl meets the sixth orange emotion, Anxiety, played by Maya Hawke (Stranger Things, Little Women).

“Inside Out received critical and audience acclaim and earned $858 million at the global box office, and was awarded Best Animated Feature at the 2016 Academy Awards. The sequel to the cartoon was announced in 2022 at the Disney D23 Expo.

Inside Out 2 is directed by Kelsey Mann, and Meg Lefov, who co-wrote the script for the first part, is working as a screenwriter.

The sequel will be released in June 2024, almost 9 years after the debut of the first film.
