International Court of Justice in The Hague issues arrest warrant for Putin

On Friday, March 17, the Hague Court issued an arrest warrant for Russian President Vladimir Putin.
This was reported by the official website of the International Criminal Court.

“The Pre-Trial Chamber II of the International Criminal Court has issued arrest warrants for two persons in the context of the situation in Ukraine: Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin and Ms. Maria Alekseevna Lvova-Belova,” the statement said.

The ICC decision is related to the crimes of Putin and Lvova-Belova. They are responsible for a war crime – the illegal deportation of the Ukrainian population, including children.

Maria Lvova-Belova is the Russian Commissioner for Children’s Affairs.

Prosecutor General of Ukraine Andriy Kostin has already commented on the situation.

“Outside of Russia, Putin should be arrested and brought to court. And world leaders will think twice before shaking his hand or sitting down with him at the negotiating table. The world has received a signal that the Russian regime is criminal and that its leadership and accomplices will be brought to justice. This is a historic decision for Ukraine and the entire system of international law,” Kostin said in a statement.

The deportation of more than 16 thousand children from Donetsk, Luhansk, Kharkiv and Kherson regions has been recorded. But the real figure may be much higher.
