Israel is designing long-range stealth UAVs for pinpoint strikes on Iran
Israel’s defense enterprises received an order from the government to develop faster, longer-range and stealthy aircraft. Stealth drones will be used by the Israeli army to attack targets on the territory of Iran.
According to Breaking Defense, Israeli companies are currently developing at least three models of UAVs. They are at various stages of design. The IDF needs silent aircraft. For example, the Hermes-450 drone is equipped with a rotary motor. It makes a loud noise while flying. A few years ago, Elbit and IAF engineers attempted to solve this problem with silencers. Meanwhile, even with them, the Hermes-450 engine makes too loud a sound, which makes it impossible to use the drone in long-range operations.
For many years, official Tel Aviv hid from the world public the fact of the production of drones. The ban on journalists covering this topic was lifted by the Israeli government last summer. He had to take this step due to the pressure of defense giants who want to start working in the global market.
The most famous Israeli drones include the Heron-TP produced by Israel Aerospace Industries and the Hermes-450 from Elbit. The take-off weight is 5.6 tons. It is able to take on board up to 2.7 tons of payload. In Hermes-450, these indicators are 550 and 180 kg, respectively. The autonomy of the first drone reaches 17 hours, and the second – 30 hours. The above models are only the tip of the iceberg. In fact, the IDF has many models of UAVs designed to solve various tasks.
