Italian Eurofighter Typhoon fighters launch Meteor BVRAAM missiles for the first time
The Italian Air Force plans to integrate the Meteor BVRAAM medium-range missile into the TF-2000A fighter jet, better known as the Eurofighter Typhoon. Recently, the service conducted live-fire launches, completing the first phase of testing.
The Italian Air Force has successfully completed the first stage of operational testing and evaluation of the Meteor BVRAAM medium-range air-to-air missile. The tests took place in the Hebrides off the coast of Scotland.
Italy has launched the Phase 2 Enhancement bravo program, which aims to enhance air combat capabilities. The second stage of testing will take place at the end of next year, and the third and final stage is scheduled for the end of 2026.
In recent tests, the Italian Air Force used the Meteor version of the TOM (Telemetric Operational Missile). It allows for in-flight recording of the data required to assess real-world performance.
