Kamikaze drone blows up a Russian EW system on a roof (video)

The Russian military installed the electronic equipment on a multi-story building, but the Ukrainian Armed Forces were able to get it there with the help of a drone.

Ukrainian soldiers of the 59th Separate Motorized Infantry Brigade named after Yakiv Handziuk destroyed Russian occupiers’ reconnaissance equipment using a drone. The video was posted by blogger and volunteer Serhiy Sternenko on his Telegram channel on Tuesday, September 5.

At first, the video shows footage taken by a reconnaissance drone. The operator directs the drone to a high-rise building, and the drone transmits the image of the electronic reconnaissance device to the monitor screen. The occupiers placed it in the corner between a low side on the edge of the roof and a ventilation duct, and raised the antenna to a higher level.

After that, a kamikaze drone was used to hit the electronic equipment the first time. A few seconds after the drone collided with the equipment, an explosion occurred and flames broke out, after which the reconnaissance drone flew closer to the roof of the house and showed what was left of the equipment.

“The 59th Brigade destroys Russian reconnaissance equipment on the roof of the building with a precise strike. This work became possible thanks to the skill of the soldiers,” Sternenko signed the video. The volunteer did not specify in which direction of the frontline the SSO fighters conducted this operation and deprived the occupiers of “eyes and ears”.

It is worth noting that electronic intelligence (EW) allows the military to obtain information about the enemy by receiving and analyzing electromagnetic radiation generated by various radio systems during operation. In this way, the Ukrainian Armed Forces prevented the occupiers from tracking their equipment in the combat zone.

In late August, the Ukrainian Armed Forces destroyed the unique Russian Predel-E radar for the first time in Ukraine. The latest Predel-E radar station was also covered by the Leer-2 electronic warfare system, but this did not stop the Ukrainian soldiers. It is known that the Russian equipment was eliminated using HIMARS, which hit the radar with a GMLRS-type projectile.

At the beginning of the same month, the Ukrainian military neutralized the Pyroid electronic warfare system. It was supposed to suppress Ukrainian FPV drones by forming an electronic “shield” around itself.
