Karabakh conflict. Modern Russian air defense system found among seized weapons (video)

The Ministry of Defense of Azerbaijan disclosed information about seized weapons and military equipment belonging to illegal armed groups in Nagorno-Karabakh. Among the seized equipment, Russian-made weapons stand out.

The list includes 4 tanks, 1 armored personnel carrier, 3 MT-LB ZG-20/3 Zastava (MT-LB with anti-aircraft machine guns), 2 cannons, 12 howitzers, 12 mortars, 468 mines, 956 mine charges, 441 mortar shells, 22 grenade launchers, 46 grenade launcher shells, 313 small arms, 66,242 rounds of ammunition, 50 rockets, 300 explosive charges, 62 hand grenades, 3 Fagot ATGMs, 28 SAMs, a ZIL-based transport and loading vehicle (TAV), and a Tor-M2 SAM on a KAMAZ chassis.

The fact that the list includes the Tor-M2 is particularly noteworthy, as this modification of the Russian missile system was only adopted in Russia in 2016.

Azerbaijani officials said that they “did not expect the region to be so militarized” given its relatively small population.

The Ministry also published a video with samples of confiscated weapons and a video of destroyed or abandoned military equipment.

  • On the morning of September 19, Baku announced that the Azerbaijani army had launched “anti-terrorist measures” in Nagorno-Karabakh. Azerbaijan demanded that Armenia completely withdraw its troops from there and dissolve the government of the unrecognized Nagorno-Karabakh Republic (Artsakh).
  • On September 20, an agreement is reached in Karabakh to cease hostilities, withdraw Armenian troops, and disband separatist units.
