At this point, the drivers would stop and get out of the car.
Today, for the first time, Ukraine celebrates the Day of Defenders. Traditionally, every day at 9:00 a.m., citizens across the country observed a minute of silence to honor the memory of the fallen defenders of the country who gave their lives in the battles with the enemy. However, today the state leadership called on Ukrainians to stop and remember the feat of our soldiers.
In particular, on Khreshchatyk Street, passersby bowed their heads and cars stopped as drivers got out of their cars to pay tribute to the heroes of Ukraine.
As a reminder, in Ukraine, with the transition of the Orthodox Church to the New Julian calendar, the Day of Defenders is now celebrated on October 1, the same day the Church holiday of the Intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary is also celebrated. This day became especially valuable for Ukrainians after the full-scale invasion of Russia.
