Kyivstar has received permission to test LTE 2300-TDD technology
The national telecom operator has started using LTE 2300-TDD mobile data technology in test mode. Thanks to new mobile technology, the company plans to increase peak data rates and develop communication services in regions where data traffic is growing rapidly.
In the second quarter of 2022, the National Telecom Regulator (NCEK) allocated additional radio frequency bands in the 2100 MHz band (5 MHz each) to three mobile operators for temporary use to increase the capacity of existing 3G networks or improve LTE / 4G radio coverage. Recently, the telecom regulator also granted Kyivstar permission to temporarily (during martial law) connect radio equipment in the 2300 MHz band. Due to this, the company plans to increase the capacity of the mobile network in border areas, and in cities to which a large number of residents from other parts of the country migrated during the war. In particular, according to Kyivstar analytical data, after February 24, 2022, more than 4 million subscribers moved to the West of Ukraine.

A feature of the new mobile technology is that the reception and transmission of data is carried out on the same frequencies. This allows the operator to more effectively manage network bandwidth. The ‘peak’ speed of mobile data transmission using LTE 2300-TDD technology at a bandwidth of 40 MHz can reach 600 Mbps in ideal radio conditions.
For customers, the use of new mobile technology means better mobile Internet services in high traffic, high-quality streaming video, more opportunities for financial transactions online, fast launch of ‘remote jobs’, etc.
