Lightshot for screenshots is a Russian development, uninstall
The popular screenshot utility Lightshot was developed by the Russian studio SkillBrains, AIN.ua reports. So, if you support the rejection of Russian developments and use this program, it is better to find some analog.
I saw someone here using Lightshot on a laptop to take screenshots, so I want to remind you that this is a Russian development, if anything.

- It’s easy to recognize Lightshot on your laptop or desktop: the program has a bright lilac icon in the shape of a pen.
- The Russian origin of the studio is indicated directly on the website where the service is offered for download, its address is 24 Lenina Street, Novosibirsk, Russia.
- At the beginning of the full-scale war, Lightshot was included in the list of Russian software from Opendatabot, along with Joxi and ScreenShare.
- These services are analogous to the American Getcloudapp, the standard Snipping Tool, or the Polish Cleanshot.
Why it is important
Since the beginning of the full-scale war, Ukrainian users have been compiling lists of popular software developed by Russian studios to urge others to abandon it. This has a double meaning. First, in this way, Ukrainian users do not support services from the aggressor country with money. Secondly, given the level of control over all spheres of life in Russia, there are risks that personal data and other sensitive information provided by users to Russian services will fall into the hands of Russian law enforcement agencies.
